Dr. SIMI M R is the Head of the Department and Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at Mahaguru Institute of Technology. With a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and an M.E. in Environmental Engineering from Anna University (where she was a university rank holder), Dr. Simi brings a strong foundation in environmental assessment, research and teaching to her role. Her academic journey includes a B.Tech from the University of Kerala and the distinction of being awarded the CERD Fellowship for doctoral research.

Dr. Simi has extensive teaching and research experience, having served as a research scholar at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology and as an Assistant Professor at Gurudeva Institute of Science and Technology prior to joining Mahaguru Institute of Technology in 2023. She has participated in numerous faculty development programs, training sessions in AutoCAD and ArcGIS and workshops focused on research ethics, student psychology and outcome-based education.

Her research contributions center on groundwater vulnerability assessment and the optimization of the DRASTIC model, where she has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers utilizing advanced statistical and GIS-based approaches. These publications highlight her expertise in applying analytical techniques to address complex environmental engineering problems.

Dr. Simi’s commitment to academic excellence and environmental sustainability is reflected both in her scholarly work and in her approach to departmental leadership. Her vision is to foster innovation, promote research-driven education and prepare civil engineering students for emerging challenges in the field.
