RATHEESH KUMAR S is the Head of the Department and Assistant Professor of Electronics & Communication Engineering at Mahaguru Institute of Technology, with a tenure dating back to 2017 and faculty experience since 2011. He holds an M.E. in Applied Electronics and a B.E. in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Anna University. His core interests are in image processing and machine learning and he has played a pivotal role in department leadership, research and student development.

He has coordinated various departmental activities and academic programs, such as Faculty Development Programs in Python Programming and Publishing in High Impact Journals, major job fairs in collaboration with the Government of Kerala and the Ministry of Labour and Employment and technical competitions like the National Robotic Championship in association with IIT Madras. As Training and Placement Officer, he has helped build alumni connections and expand career opportunities for students.

Ratheesh Kumar’s research contributions include presenting at prestigious national and international conferences and publishing journal articles on topics such as segmentation of iris and retinal images, microaneurysm detection and deep convolutional neural networks for histopathology. His work is published in reputed journals like Knowledge and Information Systems, International Journal of Imaging Systems and Technology, Neural Computing and Applications and Multimedia Tools and Applications.

In addition to organizing and attending several faculty development programs and workshops, he has served as IQAC Coordinator and Admission Coordinator for the college, demonstrating a strong commitment to academic quality assurance and institutional advancement. His wide-ranging experience and dedication to the field equip students and faculty alike to stay at the forefront of advancements in electronics and communication engineering.
