Electronics & Communication Engineering

Powering the World of Communication

About the Department

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in 2009 with an initial intake of 60 students in the UG program. In 2015, the department introduced a PG program in Signal Processing with an intake of 18 students. The department is enriched by a group of sincere and dedicated faculty with considerable research and academic experience.

Our laboratories are well equipped and fully furnished, and are constantly upgraded to meet high standards of education. Conferences, guest lectures, seminars, and workshops on various topics are conducted at regular intervals. The department registered its first Startup in May 2018 functioning within the campus. Students from the 2014–2018 batch initiated a project in “BIO–FRESH AUTO” funded by Kerala Startup Mission. The department also trains students in aptitude, leadership, and technical areas. More than 65% of students get placed in reputed companies every academic year. In addition, value-added programs are conducted in collaboration with industrial partners to provide students with additional technical skills.

Electronics is the branch of study that has revolutionized the lifestyle of humanity. It is a pace setter and a prime mover behind the transition to a technological society. The field of Electronics and Communication Engineering encompasses all areas of human life. Electronics communication engineers engage in research, design, development, and testing of the electronic equipment used in various methods of communication.

The undergraduate programme is aimed to inculcate a spirit of inquiry, develop the power of thinking, create analytical and experimental abilities, and generate interest in postgraduate courses. The curriculum provides students with a strong footing in the field of communication, instrumentation and control, embedded systems, industrial and power electronics, etc. Subjects covered include Advanced Communication System, Satellite and Fiber Optic Communications, VLSI Circuit and System Design.

Electronics and Communication Engineering opens up great career prospects for students. After completion of the degree, students can easily avail job opportunities in manufacturing and other sectors.
